All pick up sites will be on a wait list status until 5 people sign up for that site. Please make sure to put your name on the wait list because that is how we will keep track of when we can open the site up. If your desired pick up site does not open up by January 17th, you can pick up at another site and we will switch you once your desired site opens up or you can wait to sign up once the site is going. A Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program is a partnership*** between the farmer and the community. The benefit for the community member is that they know where their food is grown, who is growing it and how it is grown. Another benefit is that the produce is harvested at the height of maturity and travels less than 30 miles from the farm fields to your home.

The benefit for the farmer is that they are able to raise the much needed income at the beginning of the season for all the start up costs for the coming year as well as a greater connection to the people who eat what they grow. An added benefit to becoming a CSA shareholder is that the money that is spent stays in the local economy.

By becoming a shareholder in the farm, the community member(s) will receive a box of produce each week for the duration of the CSA season. Every week the box will be filled with fresh, seasonal, and organic vegetables, fruit, and herbs grown right here in Santa Cruz County.

Route 1 Farms grows a wide variety of vegetables all through out the year. Depending on the time of year some of the typical items you can expect to find in your CSA share are: lettuce, kale, cabbage, cilantro, tomatoes, potatoes, herbs, summer & winter squash, chard and lots, lots more.

At times, we will also partner with local farmer friends to add delicious and unique items to your CSA box. In the past we have included such items as Brussels sprouts, leeks, and artichokes from Rodoni Farms, honey from Santa Cruz Gold, Padron peppers from Groundswell Farm, fruit butters from Pantry House and more.

We also offer an Add-on section to supplement your weekly box. Each week we will list bulk or pantry items that are available in addition to what you will receive in your box. One week we may have apples to make apple butter, dried apples, pies…another week we may have flower bouquets to brighten your home or office.

You can pay online with a credit card or mail in a check after you register.

***Please note that by signing up for the CSA you are entering into an agreement and partnership with Route 1 Farms. Unfortunately, shares cannot be refunded for any reason. If the shareholder decides that they no longer want to receive a box, we will cancel the subscription but will not be able to offer a refund.

All of our produce, fruit, herbs and flowers are certified organic by CCOF. We take great care in protecting and enriching the natural resources on the 65 acres of land that we farm. Our warehouse runs off of solar panels and our tractors and delivery trucks use biodiesel.

Many of the people that work for Route 1 have been with us for years and that's something we pride ourselves on.

Providing our customers with fresh, local and organic food that is grown with thought and care is what we are strive for.
