August 12, 2018-Farm Dinner @ Rancho del Oso
Join us on August 12th at our Rancho del Oso Farm (1/2 hour north of the Westside of Santa Cruz) for a delightful evening on our farm. Our guest chef is Gema Cruz of Gabriella Cafe in Santa Cruz. Our wine maker is Nicole Walsh of Ser in Santa Cruz.
****Please note, you will not be mailed paper tickets nor is there a drop point at which you will need to pick tickets up or any other item(s) prior to the event. Your name and number of tickets purchased will be on our list when you arrive for the dinner. After you purchase your tickets, you will receive a confirmation email stating your order will be ready on Sunday, please disregard that notice as it is an automated response from the system we use for our CSA (weekly veggie box) program. You also will not be receiving a weekly veggie box.
***Please also note that tickets are non-refundable unless we can pull from the wait list. If we do fill your seat(s) from the wait list, your refund will include a $10 service charge.
This year marks our eighth year of gathering the community to share a meal and evening in our farm fields. Each dinner is a unique experience with local chefs who create menus that are seasonal, creative, mouth watering and straight from our fields. Eating local doesn't get any more local than eating in the fields that the produce was grown in. We also feature a local winery to showcase what these talented folks are creating here in our community.
We are excited to welcome our guest chef Gema Cruz from Gabriella Cafe in Santa Cruz to the farm. Gema has been with Gabriella Cafe for a very long time and is very skilled in working with our produce. Twice a week, you can find her or Paul, the owner of Gabriella's, at the Santa Cruz farmers markets stocking up for the next few days at the cafe.
Our winemaker will be Nicole Walsh of Ser Winery in Santa Cruz. Nicole started her winery in 2012 and works with growers in the Santa Cruz Mountains to bring her wines to fruition. In her 'day' job, Nicole has held every position there is to have at Bonny Doon Vineyard. This is our first time working with Nicole and we are looking forward to the partnership.
The evening will start at 4:00 pm with a welcome reception to be followed by a tour of the fields lead by farmer Jeff Larkey. Jeff will share his knowledge and the history of the land, the wildlife and his time farming there. The tour will end at our dinner site right in the fields along Waddell Creek. It's a gorgeous spot and we are thrilled to be able to share it with you.
Dinner will be served family style and your ticket price is all inclusive. Vegetarian options will be available. If you are a vegetarian or have food allergies, please let us know (via an email) after you purchase your ticket(s).
If you are a 2018 Route 1 Farms Community Supported Agriculture (CSA-weekly veggie box) shareholder you are able to purchase up to two tickets at the discounted price of $95 each for individual shares and up to four discounted tickets if you are a family shareholder. If you haven't signed up yet, do so at the same time to be eligible to take the CSA shareholder discount!
Detailed information about the evening will be sent out two weeks before the dinner.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to email or call us. We look forward to sharing a magical evening with you in August.
